We’re delighted to welcome student Alicja Stankiewicz, who’s joined us recently as a volunteer. Alicja is currently studying Business at Blackpool and The Fylde College and, as part of her course, she is required to complete an 11-week voluntary placement.
Born and raised in Poland, she moved to the UK at the age of 8. Alicja grew up in London and moved to Blackpool to continue her studies. Originally destined for a career in Art and Design, she quickly realised that she was much more suited to working in business alongside people, so she enrolled on a Business course at B&FC, with the ambition to introduce creativity into a business.
Alicja approached The Ashley Foundation as the charity was a great fit with what she is passionate about. She believes that everyone deserves the right to a dignified standard of living, regardless of their background. She likes that we at the Foundation work to support those people who are often at the lowest point in their lives to start anew.
Alicja commented “I’m lucky to have this opportunity to work at The Ashley Foundation, whilst still being able to continue my course. I like that I can study and be able to help support others at the same time. I strongly believe that everyone deserves a friend to help them back on their feet when they are down”.
For the next couple of months, Alicja will be working with us. She will continue studying business and in September 2019, she hopes to progress into higher education. She’s excited to explore her skills set alongside her passion for working with people. At The Ashley Foundation, we will be helping Alicja to learn and develop her knowledge of the industry as well as learning valuable on-the-job training.
