Community Café & Hub Manager (Blackpool)
Salary: £24,000 – 26,000 p.a. (dependent on experience)
The Ashley Foundation is Blackpool’s largest homelessness charity (Reg. No. 1063208) and offers accommodation with support to vulnerable single homeless people.
The Ashley Foundation has recently renovated and refurbished a community café in Blackpool and we are looking to appoint an experienced Café & Hub Manager to operate this evolving community enterprise. The post is funded by the National Lottery through the National Lottery Community Fund, for 3 years.
The Community Café & Hub will be inclusive where we welcome a broad range of backgrounds and interests and through our volunteering programme, provide support for those who are lonely, isolated or struggling to access opportunities, whilst aiming to foster community engagement and create a project with a long-lasting legacy for our local neighbourhood and to those who are most socially excluded within society.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day cafe operation, creating an atmosphere that is welcoming to all visitors, ensuring a vibrant and accessible environment that provides a modest, healthy menu, together with consistent, professional service.
The newly appointed Café & Hub Manager must be passionate about good quality food, have food preparation skills, knowledge of food hygiene standards and legislation and have previous experience in managing a busy café, staff and volunteers. A combination of flexibility, enthusiasm, innovation and sound organisational skills are essential.
The Ashley Foundation currently operate 3 hostels in Blackpool and there may be the opportunity for this role to develop to include managing our team of Chef/Housekeepers and Catering Services. This will be dependent on skills, knowledge and experience of the successful applicant.
