Final funding received for Community Café
In June 2018 we announced plans for the creation of a Community Café and hub that would be located in the heart of Blackpool Town Centre. Since then our team at The Ashley Foundation has been working on the design of the venue whilst trying to secure vital funds that would cover the cost of the new community project.
We are now delighted to announce that we have now secured the remaining funding required to be able to see this project through to development and the following Foundations have kindly awarded The Ashley Foundation the total sum of £35,000.
A special thanks to The Clothworkers Foundation who has donated £20,000. The Clothworkers is one of the oldest charitable trusts and helps to improve the lives of people and communities, particularly those that face disadvantage, by funding a range of capital projects.
We thank The Garfield Weston Foundation who has awarded The Ashley Foundation with the sum of £10,000. This Foundation is a family founded grant-making trust that supports organisations that provide effective solutions to helping those most in need.
Lastly, we extend thanks to The ACT Foundation, who has awarded £5,000. The aim of The ACT is to enhance the quality of life for people in need. Ranging from people of all ages living on low incomes who have a physical and/or mental disability or long-term illness.
These sums along with the Morrison’s Foundation, who donated £10,000 last year, are enough to make a start on the project which we aim to complete later on this year.
Our vision is for a Community Café in Blackpool that uses the best of locally sourced produce so that the team at The Ashley Foundation can prepare high-quality meals for those people who need it most. We hope to bring together members of the local community, particularly those who are at risk of isolation or disadvantage. The hub will also become a focal point for community events and will offer volunteering and work experience opportunities for all sections of the community.
