We are governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board play an important role in making sure that the charity is run in the interests of the people it is there to support. In addition to this they work hard to uphold our vision, protect our assets and funds and ensure that we comply with legislation and regulation.
David Kam – Chair of Trustees
David became a trustee in March 2011. David has been with The Ashley Foundation from its inception, firstly as a volunteer and then as a member. He was also previously involved with the Blackpool Single Homeless project.
He is a very keen fresh and seawater angler and until recently was the Secretary of an Angling Club, having retired after over 25 years of service.
David is married to Janet. They have 2 children. All the family are members of The Ashley Foundation
Ron Bell – Trustee
Ron became a trustee in August 2017. Ron served 9 years in the Royal Marines then went on to spend over 20 years in senior positions within the Banking and Finance sector, primarily in Sales and Marketing but also in Training and Operations.
Ron is a founder member and the President of the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre Credit Union and a Director of a Blackpool Housing Company. He has also served on the board of Blackpool & Fylde College, the Blackpool BID, Bay Housing Association, the Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Kirkham and he was the first Chairman of Blackpool Coastal Housing. Ron is a Magistrate and the Chairman of the Board of the Royal Marines Association, a national charity with over 12000 member
Wendy Swift – Trustee
Wendy Swift joined us as a trustee in December 2014. Until April 2019, Wendy was Chief Executive of Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. Wendy was previously Chief Executive of NHS Blackpool, a position she held since the Primary Care Trust was established in 2002. Wendy has over 40 years’ experience within the NHS and had been involved with numerous charities for many years
Goran – Trustee
Goran became a trustee in May 2019. Goran is an Electrical Contractor and has over 30 years experience in the building and construction industry, both here in the UK and abroad.
His Building Services company was established in 2008 on the Fylde Coast, and his former experience includes Engineering and Manufacturing management roles within the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing sectors.
He is accredited by the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC), as a Qualified Supervisor and Principal Duty Holder.
Goran moved to the Fylde Coast in 1996 from Chicago and lives here with his wife and two children. He is involved in numerous other charities with focus on the rehabilitation and care of vulnerable individuals.
Lisa Edwards – Trustee
Lisa recently joined the Board in May 2019.
Lisa worked in Operations Management in the Regeneration sector for over a third of her career – heading up operations involved in addressing homelessness, ex-offender rehabilitation, employment, family support services and engagement with those disconnected from mainstream services and support.
For the last 12 years, she has been Managing Director of HR Partner, a consultancy supporting SME businesses across the North West. She has continued to be involved in supporting several charities locally and is committed to helping drive the future of the Foundation.
Christine Howarth – Trustee
Christine Howarth, BSc Hons, PGCE, A highly-experienced Engagement Relationship Manager within the employability, education and commercial arena.
At present working in the Welfare to Work Sector over the last 7 years for a major company and have successfully generated sustainable employment opportunities to meet the needs of a divergent customer base with a broad range of North West and National employers consisting of SME and large.
Skills included extensive sales and marketing background in Welfare to Work, Training/ education sector, employability and the commercial sector. Volunteered for several large charities over the last 25 years raising money and awareness which includes various Military Charites to which include SAFFA, Breast Cancer UK, Shelter and St Anne’s Hospice.
Ashley Dribben – Trustee
Ashley Dribben became a trustee in December 2014. He is the son of our founder, Lee Dribben. Ashley was only 7 when The Ashley Foundation started operating and has been involved, one way or another, for all the years since then. As a child, Ashley regularly visited our hostels, met residents and learned of homeless issues.
Ashley started his professional career in ‘high street’ estate agency, quickly obtaining NAEA qualifications. He has extensive experience in the selling and renting of both residential and commercial properties.
Ashley now lives in Manchester where he is a Land and Property broker. He is active in the private and social housing sectors. He has a non-executive role with a Manchester based provider of homeless accommodation for families. He was Chairman of the Fylde Coast Landlord Forum for 4 years
Become a Trustee at The Ashley Foundation
The Ashley Foundation are always looking for new members to join our Board of Trustees.
Our Board meet between four to six times a year (including attending our AGM in December) and our Trustees are expected to have a good understanding of the charity’s work overall.
Your role as a trustee will be most valuable to the organisation and to yourself if you have the skill-sets that an organisation needs. The Ashley Foundation would like the trustees with the following skills set:
- Property – lettings, social housing, residential and commercial
- Finance & Accountancy
