We are delighted to announce that we have secured further funding for our Community Café & Hub project. Following an application to The Discover Foundation a community project led by Santander we have been awarded a £3,000 Discovery Project Grant.
The Discovery Project was launched by Santander in March 2016 and is supported by The Discovery Foundation. It provides grants to charities and social enterprises working with disadvantaged people.
Dam Kam, the Chair of Trustees at The Ashley Foundation said: “This is fantastic news for the organisation, the additional grant provided by Santander will allow us to invest in the Community Café further. The Café will provide a vital hub for our local community, it will allow us to bring people together and provide much need support for those families and individuals living in poverty.”
In May this year we were awarded £10K from the Morrisons Foundation and the additional monies secured from Santander will allow us to press ahead with the project and renovating the site on Dickson Road ready for our grand opening next year.
Once complete the Community Café will provide a place for members of the community to come together, particularly those who are at risk of isolation or in disadvantage.
It will provide a much needed venue to hold community events and workshops. The Café will serve an array of quality food and drinks by supporting local businesses and it will use the best of locally sourced produce too.
